CONTEMPORARY DESIGN, INTERACTIVE TECHNOLOGY
Guto Requena reflects about memory, digital culture and poetic narratives in all design scales: objects, spaces and cities. At the core of his projects is an obsession to experiment with digital technologies in an emotional way. Interactive Public Furniture and Urban Art are his most recent focuses.
He graduated as an Architect and Urban Planner from 2003 at USP – University of São Paulo.
For nine years, he was a researcher at NOMADS.USP – Center for Interactive Living Studies at the University of São Paulo. In 2007 he got his master’s degree from the same university with the dissertation, “Hybrid Habitation: Interactivity and Experience in the Cyber Culture Era”.
He has won awards both in Brazil and internationally, having lectured and exhibited in several cities such as New York, Milan, London, Istanbul, Dubai, Mexico City, Santiago, Paris, Cape Town, Beijing, Bangkok, Miami and London. He was a professor at Panamericana – School of Arts and Design and at IED – Istituto Europeo di Design – for both graduate and PHD levels. Guto has lectured at more than 80 workshops and received the “Young Brazilian Awards” as recognition.
In 2012 Guto was chosen by Google to develop the project for their Brazilian headquarters. In 2014 he won the international award “Building of the Year” from Archdaily with a project under the “Interior Architecture” Category.
